Carolynne Crawley’s presentation to our group of early childhood educators helped us to better understand how to nurture children’s connection to the land. With her words and beautiful presentation, she helped us recognize the importance of gratitude, reciprocity and interconnectedness. She emphasized the importance of developing a practice of gratitude for ourselves as educators as a way to honour the land and understand that we a part of, and not separate from, the natural world. She shared Indigenous Knowledge about the benefits of plants that we tend to take for granted, reinforcing our connection to land and opening our eyes to ways we can bring this knowledge into our daily practices. The participants talked about shifting their language, and also taking information about the plants back to their centres. Her presentation was informative, powerful, and inspiring.

We were thrilled to have Carolynne deliver her course, All My Relations, to the participants of Talk Climate to Me. Carolynne was fantastic to work with in so many ways. To name a few, she adapted to program changes with flexibility and understanding; promptly explained what the webinar processes and agenda were; and clearly communicated with our team how we could best support her in the delivery of the webinar. But perhaps most important, she helped to instill a feeling of gratitude and appreciation for the natural world in our participants. We enjoyed learning about the interconnected nature of Aki and the importance of treating the environment with kindness and respect. The webinar was a huge success and was our most attended supplementary event of the year!

Carolynne shared important sustainability and systems thinking lessons with my learners. Her warmth and graciousness put everyone at ease and opened our minds to new understandings of relationships with self, each other, and all life on earth. My students will carry that experience with them for a long while.

Carolynne led an incredible workshop for our youth volunteers, to help them learn about Indigenous perspectives of relationships and reflect on their own relationship with the natural world. While the workshop was held in a virtual context, Carolynne still managed to foster a highly engaging atmosphere for all participants and included embodied experiences such as a guided sensory activity for participants to explore their senses and their connection to a being from nature- all from the comfort of their own home. Many of our youth participants remarked that they found the workshop extremely “eye-opening” and that they left the session inspired with a new perspective on their relationship with the land that they are working to protect and restore with their community climate action projects. We are extremely grateful to have met Carolynne and to have learned from her stories, insights, and wisdom – we look forward to working with her again in the future!
— Laure Hache, Climate Action Lead, Youth Challenge International
Carolynne is a gifted educator and speaker. She brings warmth and professionalism to her engagements and makes real world connections to her material. She meets students at their level of understanding and provides encouragement to further our understanding of Inidgneous knowledge, practices and importance of place. It would be an honour to work with Carolynne again
— Stephanie Caranci, Education Program Coordinator, Take Me Outside
Carolynne provided a webinar rich in historical and emotional truth that everyone should learn. Her presentation and additional resources were a necessary education that was extremely well received, and also provided actions we can all take. We thoroughly endorse Carolynne’s webinar, and encourage any organization to work with her.

Carolynne was great to work with! Carolynne offered a virtual guided forest walk for participants of Talk Climate to Me. During the session, we were invited to go outdoors and listen to Carolynne’s prompts via an earbud in one ear, while listening to the wonderful natural world with the other. She also made the forest walk accessible to participants in various settings (those who couldn’t make it outside were invited to participate by sitting next to a window, for example).

Carolynne guided us through a series of exercises designed to open our senses and connect us to the natural world around us. The experience left us feeling more grounded and reminded us of our place in the web of relationships that sustains all life. Personally, I felt grateful to be reconnected with plants and birds right outside my door, and resolved to go back to visit my Sit Spot more often.

This was definitely something that I have been looking for, and it has been very helpful and has added great inspiration and resources to bring back to my classroom.

Walking with Carolynne is deeply inspiring, and as nutritious and re-vitalizing for the mind and the spirit as for the body. Carolynne’s connection with the land is so clearly communicated through her generous sharing of knowledge, and her warmth as she invites those in her company to explore and recognize their relationship with themselves, each other, and the web of life we are all a part of.
Carolynne leads in a way that so very respectful, with an inclusive attentiveness that affirms a community that is broad, healing, and generative. It was such a great pleasure learning about nutrition from Carolynne. It is so clear to see her passion and professionalism when she presents. It was perfect! She helped create such an engaging environment. The right amount of knowledge being shared. The right amount of participation from everyone in the group myself included. She even had the children feeling involved by doing small tasks! What an exceptional workshop! I learnt how to roll sushi and discovered new items to add to my menu. I am very grateful for her energy. Her passion and devotion to sharing her wisdom is priceless and I know her type is rare.

Carolynne Crawley is an outstanding speaker. She brings an incredible warmth, positivity and peacefulness to her presentations. Carolynne presented to business students during a session on women’s leadership in social entrepreneurship. During her presentation she encouraged students to practice gratitude, reconnect with nature and engage in genuine relationship building – all refreshing insights which are often absent from their learnings in the business program. Following the event, participants described Carolynne as “empowering” and “absolutely excellent.” Her presentation had a lasting impact as members of the college community spoke positively about her inspiring and rejuvenating message for several days afterward. We are incredibly grateful to learn from Carolynne and look forward to inviting her back to our college!”

Carolynne lead the opening ceremonies for two anti racism walks I helped coordinate. One for the Queen Victoria Black Student Success Committee and one for Stop Racism in Swansea. She shared important teachings on many things, but her words on gratitude still hold space in my head, and have helped me immensely in coping with the measures in place to combat corona virus.

She is generous with her knowledge, and on both occasions she set the tone for an inclusive, and respectful day. I look forward to working with her on future events.

Carolynne and the GLE team worked together to create a podcast, video and activity guide relating to Forest Bathing for one of our most important corporate clients. Carolynne brought so much to the table including an incredible depth of knowledge, impressive creativity and constant positivity. She was responsive and generous with her time and we collaborated to deliver a program that was met with glowing reviews and incredible feedback. We look forward to the next project

”I had the privilege of participating in Carolynne’s “Forest Bathing” seminar and was amazed by how reinvigorating and restorative the experience was. During the session, Carolynne invites you to spend time with each of your senses, observing your surroundings from different vantage points, and I was amazed at how connected I became to the world around me. I’m a big believer in wellness practices, and appreciate how Carolynne’s techniques enabled me to easily disconnect from my daily concerns and challenges and transition to feeling calm and refreshed.”
— Stephan Schenk

”I appreciated your thoughtful approach to reconnect to the earth’s pace. I saw new growth along the forest floor that I would have otherwise missed, heard the songs of the birds and the wind, felt sun and dirt in a more intentional way than I have in a while. I feel grounded and cared for and very much reconnected after your session and have received gracious feedback from staff that they feel the same way.”
