Forest Therapy
Since time immemorial the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, and the Wendat have been in deep relationship with the lands, waters, and beings here in Tkaronto. As Indigenous people, we don’t see any hierarchy between us, the land, the waters and all beings. We are interconnected and rely upon one another for food, shelter, medicine, clothing, and meaning. It has always been important for us to be in good relationship with one another. We have tracked the changes upon the land to guide our own movements when harvesting, hunting, or fishing. We make our decisions thinking many generations ahead. We never take more than what we may need, never be wasteful, and always give thanks for that we received. We knew that if people fell out of relationship then a great imbalance would occur.

All of our Ancestors at one time and place were in a deep relationship with the Earth that was culturally specific to the region. Unfortunately throughout history there has been a forced separation from that relationship for many __socieites/cultures/peoples. A forest Therapy Walk creates an opportunity for people to return ‘home’ to that deeper relationship.

Take a stroll in one of Tkaronto’s ‘green spaces’ to experience the benefits of forest therapy with Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Carolynne Crawley. Carolynne offers monthly full moon walks that will include elements from her culture. Participants will be invited to connect with the forest by opening their senses to broaden their relation with all the beings.
